Journey to Milky Waves
Milky Waves Lactation Consulting was created from a deep passion for supporting families in achieving their breastfeeding goals. My journey of breastfeeding my children, filled with both challenges and triumphs, gave me invaluable insight into the hurdles many families encounter. This personal experience inspired me to become a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) and dedicate myself to serving the lactation community for several years.
I provided lactation care for the Women, Infants, and Children program, where I was able to provide lactation support and counseling to many families. While working for the WIC program, I gained experience working with a wide variety of families from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. I also had the opportunity to work at a specialty breastfeeding clinic in Northwest Indiana, where I had the opportunity to learn from several highly experienced IBCLCs who mentored me and provided me with an environment to grow. There, I was able to learn how to help families who were struggling with complex breastfeeding barriers such as oral dysfunction, nipple shape challenges, using supplemental nursing systems, relactation, and much more. I am currently working toward my Advanced Lactation Consultant (ALC) certification through the Academy of Lactation Practice and Policy. I will sit for my International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) exam in the spring of 2026.
At Milky Waves Lactation Consulting, I am committed to providing compassionate, expert care tailored to the unique needs of every family. Whether you’re exclusively breastfeeding, chest-feeding, bottle-feeding pumped milk, combination feeding, using a supplemental nursing system, weaning, or exploring re-lactation, I’m here to guide and support you every step of the way.
What is a CLC?
The Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) certification identifies a clinical lactation care provider who has demonstrated the necessary skills, knowledge, and attitudes to provide clinical support and management to families who are considering breastfeeding or who have questions or problems during the course of breastfeeding/lactation. CLC candidates undergo rigorous competency verification before they can sit for the certification examination with the Academy of Lactation Practice and Policy (ALPP).
