Journey to Milky Waves
My journey of breastfeeding my children, filled with both challenges and triumphs, gave me invaluable insight into the hurdles many families encounter. This personal experience inspired me to become a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC). I have been dedicated to serving the lactation community for several years now and look to serving for years to come.
I began my lactation career working for the Women, Infants, and Children program (WIC) as a lactation peer counselor. WIC helped me advance by providing compassionate care and understanding that each family’s needs are unique—no single lactation plan fits all. I then advanced my career at Momsense Breastfeeding Medical Solutions, a specialty clinic in Northwest Indiana. There, experienced IBCLCs mentored me and fostered my growth. At Momsense, I learned specialized techniques to support families facing complex breastfeeding challenges like oral dysfunction (tongue and lip ties), supplemental nursing systems, relactation, and more.
I am currently working toward my Advanced Lactation Consultant (ALC) certification through the Academy of Lactation Practice and Policy. I will sit for my International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) exam in the spring of 2026.
At Milky Waves Lactation Consulting, I am committed to providing compassionate, expert care tailored to the unique needs of every family. Whether you’re exclusively breastfeeding, chest-feeding, bottle-feeding expressed milk, combination feeding, using a supplemental nursing system, weaning, or exploring re-lactation, I’m here to guide and support you every step of the way.
What is a CLC?
The Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) certification identifies a clinical lactation care provider who has demonstrated the necessary skills, knowledge, and attitudes to provide clinical support and management to families who are considering breastfeeding or who have questions or problems during the course of breastfeeding/lactation. CLC candidates undergo rigorous competency verification before they can sit for the certification examination with the Academy of Lactation Practice and Policy (ALPP).
